The Christmas concert is generally comprised of carols, old and new and other items of aseasonalnature.Inthespringwemainlysingamajorchoralworkinonehalfoftheconcertandothercomplementarypiecesintheotherhalf.Inthespring we often hire a musical ensemble to accompany the programme.Sometimes we are asked to sing at other events. It is a good way to promote the choir. You will be advised of any other dates.At Christmas we will sing carols somewhere to boost society funds.This is often at Sanders, or in the High Street. These are daytime events. This is a very reasonable rate compared with other Societies.If you pay Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax you can fill in a Gift Aid form which will help the Choral Society which is a registered charity. THE CONCERTSAfewweeksbeforeaconcertyouwillbeaskedtosellsometicketsandwillbegiventwoforthispurpose.Ifyoucan'tsellthemtheymustbereturnedtothe Society for sale on the night. Please do your best to sell them as we rely on the income. If you need more they are available.If you borrow a score from the Librarian please take great care of it and rub out any pencil notes you have made before it is returned.DRESS CODE FOR CONCERTSForthegentlemen,thedresscodeisadarksuitandwhiteshirtwithacolouredtie(provided)atChristmasandablackbowtieinthespring.Ladieswear white long sleeved blouses and a long black skirt or trousers. A pink scarf is provided by the Society and must be returned if you leave.COMMON DATESReturn in September is the Thursday of the first full week in September. Likewise return in January is on the Thursday of the first full week.On the Thursday evening following the Spring Concert there will usually be a Social Evening. We each bring a plate of food to share, volunteer to do a 'turn' if brave enough, and enjoy a quiz. It is a good fun evening. Please bring a guest if you would like to.
